The Series A booklets seek to capture important philosophical, theoretical and conceptual ideas and understandings that have been influential to the planning discipline, its paradigms and theoretical reasoning, including the scholar or scholars that are acknowledged to having been the major drive behind these concepts. Initiative

The AESOP Booklet Series is a Young Academics initiative, documenting conversations between scholars about theories, ideas, concepts and practices that matter. These conversations explore pressing issues and present them to a broad audience through the delivery of a booklet series. The initiative of this booklet series emerged from the idea of linking PhD researchers with senior academics, enabling them to work together in producing valuable outputs. The project therefore connects early career researchers who are willing to explore and digest, with senior academics willing to share and to guide. The Young Academics took the lead and established an editorial committee for the booklet series in 2013. The first connections were quickly established and the first booklet in the series was launched, detailing Jean Hillier in conversation with Gareth Abrahamson on Deleuze and Guattari.

Purpose

The Booklet Series serves multiple purposes. Aside from connecting early career researchers and senior academics, this initiative also brings the activities of AESOP and its Young Academics Network closer together as both organisations work towards the common objective of producing and publishing this elegant series of valued talks. The Booklet Series is also the first product to appear on AESOP's digital platform InPlanning. With AESOP's InPlanning platform the Association is able to share information for planners at almost zero cost, improving the dissemination of prized information.
